This stunning kitchen transformation in Upper Arlington brings modern elegance to a cherished family home built in 1955. Designed with care to honor the home’s charm and family history, the updated space beautifully integrates classic and contemporary elements.

The back wall features Avalon-style inset cabinets painted in a soft Oatmeal color. The inset design ensures the cabinet fronts sit flush with the frame, creating a clean, seamless look. Simple slab front top drawers enhance the cabinets’  understated elegance, while an integrated refrigerator on the left and a matching pantry on the right achieve balanced symmetry. Large drawers flank the central range, which is crowned by a custom-built wood hood with a subtle arch detail.

The island and bar areas echo the back wall’s timeless craftsmanship with the same inset construction and simple door details. Here, rift sawn white oak with a Twig stain introduces a warm, natural texture, creating a striking contrast.

For the bathroom vanity, inset cabinetry with a bead detail frames the drawers, which are crafted with the same simple slab front design—aptly named “classic.”

To create a more open, connected space, the kitchen was repositioned into the living area. This thoughtful redesign complements the home’s original character while enhancing functionality, making it a perfect blend of tradition and modernity for generations to come.
